Job Description

The Safety Event Reporting System (SERS) Administrator serves as the administrator for the Safety Event Reporting System. This role is responsible for understanding software functionality and features and configuring the software to meet organizational requirements.

The SERS Administrator will assure consistency and reliability in the user experience of all staff. Additionally, this role will coordinate improvement and education activities related to the Safety Event Reporting System. Specifically, the SERS Administrator will provide timely support and customer service to SERS users (i.e. staff throughout the organization) and prioritize and complete configuration requests related to the system. The SERS Administrator will also facilitate key departmental processes that support both department and organization goals related to safety event reporting.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage processes that support effective organization-wide use of detection systems including but not limited to our Safety Event Reporting System (SERS) and Daily Operational Safety Exercise.
  • Serve as the primary system administrator for the Safety Event Reporting System.
  • Manage user support processes related to user access, reporting, troubleshooting and education. Follow internal change management processes for configuration changes.
  • Maintain current tracking regarding organization-wide staff assignments in patient safety roles throughout the hospital. This includes SERS liaison, safety coach, and leadership escalation paths within departments; data sources; and subject matter experts.
  • Manage and plan communications related to safety improvement and practice changes related to harm prevention.
  • Coordinate patient safety learning activities including education sessions on error prevention and high reliability, orientation activities, organization-wide learning events, and activities planned in partnership with faculty.
  • Support activities related to reliability in patient safety culture and track information needed to inform education and communication plan.
  • Manage information systems, processes, documentation, & data flow to drive reliability in internal and external data reporting. High emphasis on maintaining confidentiality
  • Build and maintain cohesive support and strong partnership with the entire hospital community.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Program coordinator or project management experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience with RL Datix or other Safety Event Reporting or other technical systems preferred.
  • Experience in Data Analysis with online dashboards and data visualization strongly preferred.
  • Excellent project/change management skills, organizational skills, analytical skills, process/systems thinking skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, conflict/problem resolution skills, and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to understand and articulate the needs of the customer, assist them in making the necessary decisions to accomplish their objectives, ability to understand various perspectives and synthesize findings to achieve results.

Pay Range

$49,920.00-$81,619.20 Salary
