Restaurant Assistant General Manager
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Restaurant Assistant General Manager to ensure all daily activities run smoothly and efficiently.
About the Role
The Restaurant Assistant General Manager is a key player in ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly and efficiently while providing exceptional customer service. This individual will assist the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, maintaining high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness, and fostering a positive work environment for all team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager in all aspects of restaurant operations, including decision-making, staffing, inventory management, and quality control.
- Supervise and coordinate communication between front of house and heart of house team members.
- Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations to ensure the restaurant exceeds standards in food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
- Prepare shift schedules.
- Process payroll for all restaurant staff as needed.
- Calculate future needs in food, kitchenware, and equipment, and place orders as needed.
- Assist in monitoring finances, including sales and expenses for all areas of the restaurant.
- Assist in managing store vendors and invoices.
- Work with management personnel to set targets and incentives to increase profitability of the restaurant.
- Consistently review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist General Manager by providing coaching and feedback to staff and assessing performance on an ongoing basis.
- Support new employees' proper onboarding (scheduling, trainings, and ordering uniforms).
- Gather guests' feedback and recommend improvements to our menus and service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma required.
- Certification in hospitality is a plus.
Experience
- Proven work experience as a Restaurant Assistant Manager, Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, or similar role.
- Familiarity with restaurant management software preferred (e.g., Aloha, Pulse, Restaurant 365, OpenTable).
Skills
- Strong leadership, motivational, and people skills to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment and high-temperature kitchen.
- Able to follow directions and delegate duties as needed.
- Good math and reporting skills.
- Excellent customer service abilities.
- Excellent communication and attention to detail.
Working Environment
- Ability to stand exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift frequently.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 40 pounds at a time.
- Available to work in shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and/or mid-afternoon.
