Accountant/Tax Preparer

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant/ Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax regulations and compliance, with the ability to prepare and file various types of tax returns for individuals and businesses. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines. There is mandatory overtime during tax season from February through April.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Conduct thorough account analysis to identify potential tax deductions and credits.
• Review financial documents such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to ensure accuracy in tax preparation.
• Utilize financial software including QuickBooks for efficient data entry and reporting.
• Assist clients with inquiries regarding their tax situations, providing clear explanations of tax laws and regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax legislation that may impact clients' returns.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tax Preparer or in a similar role within accounting or finance.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, double-entry bookkeeping, and account analysis.
• Proficiency in using financial software such as QuickBooks and Drake Tax Software is preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
• Ability to work under pressure during peak tax season while maintaining high accuracy standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
