What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Football Coach position at Annapolis Area Christian School?
SUMMARY
The head coach, in collaboration with athletic administration, is responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the AACS football program. The program is expected to be a reflection of the AACS Mission and Core Values and the highest standards of conduct. The position is responsible for all aspects of the football program, including disciplining and mentoring student-athletes, culture-building, public relations, scheduling, travel, budget, hiring and management of assistant coaches, and the preparation, planning, and strategy necessary for a highly competitive MIAA B Conference football program. Head coaches are expected to develop student-athletes in areas of spiritual formation, leadership capacity, academic excellence, athletic skill, persistence, and competitiveness.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience building a competitive high school football program that emphasizes character development and core values aligned with the mission of AACS.

Partner with teachers and academic counselors regarding the academic progress of student-athletes and collaborate as needed to ensure student-athletes are engaged, supported, and challenged.
Identify mission-appropriate prospective students and follow MIAA recruiting rules in the contact and ongoing engagement with the families of prospective student-athletes. Work directly with the Admissions staff to participate in campus tours and visits and assist prospective families in the admission process.
Regularly attend other AACS athletic events to build relationships beyond the football community with staff, student-athletes, and parents.
Attend youth sporting events where prospective student-athletes may participate while complying with applicable MIAA recruiting rules and regulations to help build relationships and communicate Annapolis Area Christian School’s story with the broader Annapolis area community.
Evaluate individual student-athletes and develop a coaching plan that takes student-athletes from their point of need to their full potential, incorporating the core values of our Eagle Athletic Culture (Discipline, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, Unity).
Work closely with high school and middle school student-athletes to build a solid football program
Develop individual and team skills through well-planned training and film sessions.
Work closely with the AACS Athletic Training (AT) staff to promote the health and wellness of student-athletes,, supporting and respecting the AT’s decision-making regarding restriction from and return to play protocols.
At the conclusion of the year, exit meetings will be conducted with each student-athlete.
Communicate proactively with student-athletes and parents/guardians as appropriate regarding expectations, camps, practices, and game schedules.
Supervise student-athletes before and after practices/games.
Issue equipment and uniforms to student-athletes, ensuring all equipment is maintained properly and uniforms are returned at the end of the season.
Attend all games (both home and away), continuing through the conclusion of any post-season tournament(s) in which the team participates.
As necessary, set up facilities in preparation for practice, games, and events.
Conduct spring and pre-season conditioning and practices (including passing leagues) in accordance with MIAA rules - working closely with the AACS sports performance and athletic training staff.
May operate school vehicles and transport student-athletes to games/events.
Conduct at least one middle school or similar football summer camp utilizing the football staff.
60/40 split to coach/school.
Work towards adding a winter clinic targeting new student-athletes for 26/27
Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
