Job Summary
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients visiting a healthcare facility. Your role is crucial in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain appointment calendars
- Verify patient insurance information, including Medicare
- Perform medical coding tasks as needed
- Utilize 10-key typing skills to input patient data accurately
- Maintain and organize patient files using electronic systems such as Athena Health
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel
- Ensure adherence to medical office procedures and protocols
- Handle patient inquiries with empathy and professionalism
- Assist with other administrative tasks as required
Requirements
- Proficiency in medical office procedures and terminology
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical coding practices is a plus
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems preferred
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Bilingual proficiency is an advantage for better patient care
