Job Description
The Academic Advisor will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to provide individualized guidance and support. This includes:
- Assisting students in developing their educational and career plans.
- Providing guidance on program requirements, transfer requirements, and course selection.
- Maintaining accurate records and notes.
- Meeting with students identified as at-risk to acquaint them with available college support services and resources.
- Drafting student success contracts for students who receive unsatisfactory interim grades or fail to make satisfactory academic progress.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher.
- Minimum of two years of experience in advising in a post-secondary academic setting required.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with all student groups, faculty, administrators, professional and support staff, and the public.
- Working knowledge of student development theories required.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, ability to master student information systems.
