What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Spanish Service Coordinator position at Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services?
The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services is recruiting for a Bilingual Spanish Service Coordinator to work in our Annapolis location at the Family Support Center. This position will provide case management services to our bilingual Spanish and English Teen Parent Education Program (TPEP) and our Adult Education participants including GED and ESL and facilitate parenting classes.
Essential Duties:
1. Meets with new Center participants to familiarize them with the Center and the services available, completing all required paperwork. Ensures new families feel welcome and are integrated into Center programs and activities.
2. Responsible for service coordination activities for the bilingual Spanish population at Annapolis Family Support Center. Provides assistance and supportive counseling, manages case load, ensures confidentiality, and conducts regular case management meetings. Provides case management updates to supervisor.
3. Attends all mandatory trainings and meetings as required by the Maryland Family Network and the Department of Social Services.
4. Provides retention, outreach and recruitment services including home visits to families.
5. Provides groups to optimize participant self-esteem and potential and provides formal and informal parenting education to families addressing specific developmental needs of their children. Facilitates groups utilizing the nurturing parenting program curriculum.
6. Ensures that participant files are complete and accurate at all times in accordance with Maryland Family Network standards.
7. Serves as a member of the Center’s management team and as such, provides leadership to center staff at the request of the Family Support Center Director.
8. Ability to drive a 15 passenger van.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or human development from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience providing direct service to individuals and group facilitation. Familiarity with issues of young parents, infants and toddlers, issues of poverty and linking with community resources desirable.
Required: Bilingual in Spanish.
Notes:
1. Additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Applicants may substitute education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a human services related field at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classification or Administrative Office specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
