What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Service Caseworker Trainee Adoptions and Foster Care position at Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services?
Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services is looking for a Family Services Caseworker Trainee to work in the Annapolis location. The Family Services Caseworker Trainee will provide supportive services to individuals and the family in an effort to assist in preserving and/or re-establishing the family structure, to promote a functional home climate, and to teach clients to make use of community resources. The employee functions as a member of the service team by visiting clients’ homes to identify needs, provide support to extended family, educating the family system on abuse and neglect issues, and providing assistance with activities of daily living, care giving, and parenting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Provide gold standard Customer Service/Case Management by planning and implementing services agreements for individual and family permanency plans which include visitation arrangements and time-limited expectations for child, parent, and agency actions.
2. Identification and utilization of necessary and appropriate community resources that assist in achievement of permanency plans. These resources may include medical, mental health, educational, and recreational.
3. Clinical assessment of child and family strengths and weaknesses and progress toward permanency plan achievement. This assessment may be in writing or presented at a staffing or during supervisory meetings.
4. Facilitation of permanency plan achievement through planning and participation in family team meetings, family and child visitation attendance at educational meetings, and mental health or substance abuse treatment.
5. Preparation of various federal, state, and local forms and reports and maintenance of current and accurate case records all in accordance with governmental mandates for time and completeness.
6. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and policies in order to provide case management services in a legal and ethical manner and present agency recommendations and decisions effectively.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate behavioral science, such as: child development, sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, criminology, juvenile justice, human growth and development, human services, mental health or human resources management that includes at least 30 credit hours in human services or human development.
Experience: None.
