Job Description
Nature of Work:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, functions as a Program Supervisor for the Community Education Unit. Also functions as the Maryland Department of Health's (MDH) Tobacco Coordinator for Anne Arundel County by directly overseeing grants funded by MDH’s Center of Tobacco Prevention and Control. Programmatic responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing and evaluating community programs for youth and adults and focusing on healthy lifestyles. Specific programs include cardiovascular disease prevention, diabetes prevention, tobacco use prevention and cessation, tobacco enforcement, and cancer prevention. Supervises four full-time positions and assists the Program Manager in oversight of an annual budget of $1.6 million.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in public health education, community health education or health science from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Experience with Maryland Cigarette Restitution Fund (CRF) tobacco grants; in community education; working with grants, data collection and performance measures; supervisory leadership; and developing chronic disease education programs and materials.
License or Certification:
Must have a valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle and be covered by automobile insurance.
Notes:
Required to work day shift, evening shift and weekends as needed and be able to stand, walk, bend and lift 50 lbs.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification. Innovative thinker who is a self-starter. Excellent public speaking, leadership and community engagement skills.
