ContinuousThe Scheduling Conference Administrator is authorized by the Administrative Judge to conduct Scheduling Conferences in family law cases. Scheduling Conferences are held in a hearing room. This position additionally oversees the Custody Evaluation Unit, consisting of four Custody Evaluators. The Scheduling Conference Administrator will screen the case
to identify all issues, whether any family services are necessary or appropriate, and will set the dates for other events that should take place prior to trial, including but not limited to discovery deadlines, Pendente Lite hearings and Pre-Trial Settlement Conferences. The Scheduling Conference Administrator will recommend types of services each case will need
including:
- Pendente Lite Hearing;
- Parenting Seminar;
- Custody/Visitation Mediation;
- Property Alternative Dispute Resolution;
- Custody Evaluations;
- Psychological Evaluation;
- Substance Abuse Testing/Screening/Evaluation;
- Paternity Testing;
- Attorney for Minor Children.
The Scheduling Conference Administrator works for the Judicial branch of the government and is funded through Anne Arundel County. This position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Court Operations with general oversight provided by the Court Administrator, and Administrative Judge.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
J.D. Minimum of five years of experience in family law.
NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK
- Court file review and preparation for Scheduling Conference docket.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, tact, diplomacy, and competence in dealing with judges, attorneys, court personnel, and the public.
- Interaction with judges, magistrates, court personnel, attorneys and litigants.
- Facilitation of agreements during the Scheduling Conference docket.
- Draft and preparation of consent orders and child support guidelines worksheets.
- Work closely with Family Case Management in managing provider lists, preparing orders and seeking out new service providers.
- Oversight of the Custody Evaluation Unit to include but not limited to monitoring caseloads, time and attendance, staffing of office, reviewing reports as needed and answering legal questions.
- Attending Anne Arundel Bar Association Family Committee meetings/events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and understanding of the Court’s Family Law Differentiated Case
- Management Plan; mediation/ADR training.
- Knowledge of Maryland Rules, including Rules regarding custody evaluators and custody evaluations and appointment of child counsel.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Competent in use of Zoom for Government.
SALARY/BENEFITS
The Scheduling Conference Administrator is a full-time grade 19 county position. The position includes health insurance, paid leave, and retirement benefits. Starting annual salary is $90,000.
