JOB SUMMARY
As part of a multi-interdisciplinary team performs comprehensive bilingual speech and language evaluation of students suspected of having a disability as defined by Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Works primarily with students and families whose primary language is not English or may have a language other than English spoken in the home. Work involves the administration of tests, assessing student performance using a variety of means, including the use of work samples, psychometrics, and other assessment tools. Completes language dominance screenings. Provides professional development sessions; conducts conferences; completes reports; collects relevant data; works in collaboration with interpreters, schools, and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers a battery of communication assessments designed to evaluate the student in all areas of suspected disability and are unbiased or reduced biased based on the language and/or culture of the student. Analyzes and interprets results of tests.
- Completes language dominance screenings to determine the language for assessment.
- Coordinates with interpreters, school staff, and parents to complete assessments.Prepares written assessment reports for students, summarizing significiant findings. Attends IEP team meetings to discuss the results of the assessments.
- Woks in collaboration with the school based IEP team and evaluators. Develops and coordinates an evaluation schedule for students recommended for assessment through the IEP process.
- Conducts follow-up conferences with parents and school staff to assist in making recommendations for further actions.
- Provides technical assistance to school staff on working with and assessing linguistically and/or culturally diverse students.
- Develops and presents school wide and system wide professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from a regionally accredited college or university required.
- Master's Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
- Two (2) years successful teaching/therapy experience required; and
- Two (2) years successful experience administering and interpreting informal and formal assessments required.

- Excellent bilingual oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities as a member of a multi-disciplinary assessment team.
- Ability to use specialized assessment and data analysis software.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Language Requirements
- Bilingual/Biliterate in English and Spanish native or near native preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
- Hold or be eligible for Speech and Language Pathologist License issued by Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers and Speech Language Pathologists required;
- Hold or be eligible for Speech and Language Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) Certification issued by American Speech-Hearing-Language Association (ASHA) required;
- Within 10 days, obtain National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) required.
- Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
- Daily access to reliable transportation.

- Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.

- Actively enrolled in Maryland Medicaid required;
