Description

The New Goods Assistant Buyer, purchases all goods for the retail organization and manages inventory levels, conducts inventories of goods, recommends new items to be tested at specific location, develops weekly, monthly and annual reports. These reports to include total sales, COGS, margin by category, total margin, sell through percentage of each item and a summary of the new products tested and the results. Additionally, the buyer needs to research and make recommendations about potential new vendors for both current and new items. Also, needs to plan the annual buying calendar to include special purchases as necessary for select events such as Halloween.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adds new goods (merchandise) & special buys to the system and maintains the inventory for assigned goods. Ensures that goods are being ordered, distributed and direct shipped as set by the system. Recommends to the New Goods Manager additional buys of high-turn items. Utilizes inventory management in the POS system to evaluate accuracy of vendor orders.
  • Provides training to store management on properly preparing inventory, securing it, and maintaining it. Conducts inventory of assigned goods on a scheduled basis which will include cycle counts. Manage new goods, Que-line, and expense budgets.
  • Alerts District Managers to top five under-performing Que-Line stores (weekly) by reviewing the data to determine if the program is being executed. Achieve YTD margin goals for Que-Line and New Goods.
  • Recommends and upon approval the development of PowerBI reporting for inventory with POS Company. Examples would include reporting around book inventory, actual on-hand, quantity sold, and inventory turns.
  • Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to handle stressful or crisis situations with emotional control and conduct mediations in a diplomatic manner
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Working knowledge to navigate the Internet to research topics and obtain information, configure standard browsers and send / retrieve email
  • Able to build effective working relationships with employees and managers are various organizational levels while displaying compassion and respect for people from diverse backgrounds, various skill level, and barriers to employment
