The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, assisting the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining operational standards. You’ll help drive performance by leading and motivating the team, ensuring smooth service flow, managing inventory, and upholding safety and cleanliness standards. This position is ideal for someone with leadership experience in the quick-service or restaurant industry, with aspirations to grow within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Staff Development :
Assist in hiring, training, and supervising staff to ensure that all team members are motivated, properly trained, and perform to the highest standards.
Lead by example by maintaining a positive attitude, providing guidance, and promoting teamwork.
Conduct team meetings and one-on-one sessions to provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
Assist with scheduling shifts to ensure proper staffing levels at all times.
Ensure high standards of guest service by overseeing customer interactions, resolving complaints, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Monitor service speed, order accuracy, and overall customer experience.
Promote a customer-first mindset among the team, ensuring each guest leaves satisfied.
Oversee the smooth running of the front of house and back of house operations, including food preparation, order fulfillment, and service delivery.
Ensure that all food safety standards and health regulations are strictly adhered to, including safe food handling, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular inventory checks, and placing orders for supplies as needed.
Manage cash handling, process transactions, and ensure accurate register reconciliation at the beginning and end of shifts.
Ensure all equipment is in working order and report any maintenance issues to management.
Ensure the restaurant meets all local health codes, food safety regulations, and OSHA standards.
Lead efforts to maintain a clean and safe environment for both guests and staff, including regular inspections of the restaurant’s cleanliness.
Address any safety concerns immediately, ensuring the safety of employees and customers.
Assist in executing promotional activities and marketing initiatives to drive sales and brand awareness.
Foster positive relationships with customers and the local community to build loyalty and repeat business.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience :
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a quick-service restaurant or similar fast-paced environment.
Previous experience managing teams and delivering results in a fast-casual or quick-service restaurant setting is strongly preferred.
ServSafe Manager Certification
Experience in budgeting, labor cost control, and achieving sales goals.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle customer complaints in a professional and effective manner.
Ability to oversee multiple areas of the restaurant, including both front of house and back of house operations.
Familiarity with food safety regulations, health codes, and restaurant sanitation standards.
Proficient in point-of-sale systems, cash handling, and basic financial reporting.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and food quality.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress effectively.
