The Development Officer will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that encompasses major gifts, corporate and foundation support, and planned giving. This individual will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to set and achieve fundraising goals, and will play a key role in organizing and executing donor events that engage and strengthen relationships with supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Fundraising Plans: Create a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet the Woodman Museum's annual revenue goals, aligning with our mission to preserve and share the history of our community.
  • Major Gifts and Donor Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors that align with the museum's values and goals. Attend networking events in Dover and surrounding areas.
  • Data Monitoring and Analysis: Track and analyze fundraising performance data, adjusting strategies as necessary to maximize effectiveness and ensure achievement of fundraising goals.
  • Special Events Planning: Assist in planning and executing special events that promote the museum's mission, raise funds, and foster relationships with donors, including exhibitions, galas, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Communications: Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to create compelling donor communications and marketing materials that highlight the museum’s programs, exhibitions, and impact on the community.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop effective fundraising strategies and objectives, leveraging their networks to enhance donor engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts, corporate and foundation funding, and organizing successful events.
  • Grant writing experience or knowledge.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling narratives for donor communications and marketing materials.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively execute fundraising initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers to foster a culture of philanthropy.
  • Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Woodman Museum and passion for history, culture, and community engagement.

Pay: $47,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
