SUMMARY of HIM
Responsible for verification, compiling, organization and evaluating patient medical records so they can be retrieved quickly and efficiently from computer operations. Responsible to check medical records and charts for correctness and completeness. Initiates medical charts and works closely with front office personnel, clinical personnel and provider’s staff. Responds to requests for information from files according to established policies and procedures. Clerk is responsible for answering the hospital’s incoming calls. Complies with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for the privacy and security of patient information; explains the law and our privacy policy to patients as needed; maintains appropriate documentation of access to medical records. Performs duties in support of the hospital mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
SUMMARY of ADMISSIONS
This position involves comprehensive administrative duties related to the admission process. The primary responsibilities include interviewing incoming patients or their representatives to gather necessary personal and insurance information for admission, ensuring the accuracy of this data, and verifying insurance coverage and authorizations. The role also involves explaining hospital policies (e.g., payment deadlines), processing signed admission forms, and managing payments on patient accounts. Administrative tasks like scanning patient information, maintaining admission schedules, and keeping the admission desk organized are essential. The role emphasizes promoting excellent public relations by offering prompt, courteous service, and adhering to departmental policies and safety procedures. Additional duties include attending meetings, maintaining knowledge of safety practices, and performing office tasks as needed.
