Role Description

This is a 12-week contract role for a Child Trauma Group Facilitator based in Harrisburg, NC. The facilitator will be responsible for leading trauma-focused group therapy sessions for children called Bounce Back. This 10-week group is aimed at students Kindergarden through 5th Grade who have been exposed to at least one traumatic event and are experiencing traumatic stress symptoms. The facilitator will provide support and guidance in processing and healing from traumatic experiences during the weekly 30 minute sessions. This role involves engaging with children in a therapeutic and compassionate manner to promote their well-being as well as collaborating with caretakers, teachers and school staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the 10-week Bounce Back trauma group, utilizing provided curriculum
• Provide 2 individual sessions to each participant during the group
• Facilitate 2 caregiver sessions (virtual or in-person)
• Provide a safe, supportive environment for participants, fostering open communication and trust
• Collaborate with parents and caregivers to enhance understanding of trauma and support strategies
• Conduct initial screening and ongoing evaluations to track participant progress
• Maintain organized records and documentation of group sessions and participant feedback using the provided EHR platform
• Communicate proactively with stakeholders, including school personnel and family members
• Advocate for participants’ needs within the school system and community resources.
• Refer students to Mental Health Therapist or Social Worker if needing additional care

Qualifications

• Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker in North Carolina (preferred) or Qualified Mental Health Professional with experience working with children
• Experience facilitating group therapy sessions for children
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and interventions for children
• Empathetic and collaborative approach to working with clients and community partners
• Strong understanding of school systems and barriers faced by students and families
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to create a safe and supportive environment for children
• Ability to work independently while also being a team player in a collaborative school setting

Compensation

• $4200 total package
• $200 VISA card for materials

Timeline

• The contract will run from January 2025-March 2025.
• Preferred days to facilitate group is Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday due to the school calendar. Ideally facilitator would have alternate days to run group to not interrupt academic instruction during the same block.
