Annie Wright is seeking a Sports Team Bus Driver with a valid CDL license to begin immediately. This is a part-time, hourly position with a 0.4 FTE.

Position Description
The Sports Team Bus Driver is often the first person a student sees on their way to a game. The Sports Team Bus Driver, therefore, is essential to our athletics program ecosystem, and the warm attitude and patient spirit with which the Sports Team Bus Driver welcomes each and every student is key to this partnership. The Sports Team Bus Driver is a kind and steady presence, conscious of the health and safety of the students in their charge, and diligent in communication, timing, and responsibility.
The Sports Team Bus Driver is comfortable and enjoys the sound of students laughing and playing on the bus and is able to manage these distractions while focusing on the road. The Sports Team Bus Driver must be available to transport athletics teams and must ensure that all students are safely and successfully delivered to and from athletic events.
Annie Wright buses are 21’ to 27’ long and carry a maximum of 20 friendly and eager students.
Position Overview: Duties and Responsibilities
The Sports Team Bus Driver:
- Drives safely along designated routes;
- Obeys traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations;
- Picks up and drops off students at designated times and locations;
- Transports students to and from athletic activities in the afternoons;
- Assists all students with getting on and off the bus as required;
- Prevents or stops unruly behavior from students and ensures the safety of all students;
- Fills the gas tank of the bus, when needed;
- Always maintains a clean and mechanically sound bus;
- Attends staff meetings and participates in professional development, as required.
Qualifications
The Sports Team Bus Driver will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences. This is an aspirational list and Annie Wright Schools encourages candidates to apply who may not currently possess but are working on building, all of these qualities. The Sports Team Bus Driver:
- Holds a high school diploma or GED;
- Has 1 years' experience driving a school bus;
- Is able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, families, and Sports Team staff;
- Practices cultural humility in personal interactions;
- Has some experience working with children (preferably 2 years).
In addition, the Bus Driver must have:
- A valid Washington State driver’s license, including CDL with passenger endorsements;
- The ability to carry out assigned routes on time;
- No at-fault traffic accidents in the last 5 years;
- Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years);
- A current Medical Examiner’s Certificate; and
- is eligible to work in the United States. Note: Under our current employment policies, we are unable to sponsor work visas and do not offer positions to candidates who are not yet eligible to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and driving.
- Must be able to enter and exit the bus without assistance
Salary and Benefits
This position offers an hourly rate of $31.20 per hour. Washington Paid sick leave and other federally and State-mandated benefits are available to employees in compliance with applicable federal and state laws.
