Job Title: Career and Technical Education Welding Instructor

Work Days: 9 months / 187 days

Reports to: Director of Career Tech

Salary Schedule: Teacher - 9 month

Location: Anniston High School

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Description: Creates a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students enrolled in an educational setting. Establishes effective rapport with students. Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student's ability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct learning activities of the students assigned to the Welding Program.

Regular and expected attendance and classroom management.

Be willing to expand program parameters to meet local industry needs in the Welding field. Collaborate with other construction related programs on students' projects.

Must attend new teacher training for CTE and earn teacher certification. Complete graduate follow-up report annually.

Maintain an updated list of prospective employers and educational opportunities for students exiting the program.

Organize and utilize an advisory council for gathering up-to-date information in the area which may indicate need for changes in course content, equipment or methods.

Teach the Alabama Course of Study: Career Technical Education - NCCER Curriculum. Maintain necessary records to support all instructional activities.

Develop course syllabus from the course of study to ensure the students are exposed to job entry-level skills to include basic tools and safety of the trade.

Detailed lesson plans should be developed to deliver the course of study content standards. Work to ensure that job placement and follow up will be an ongoing activity. Actively recruit prospective students to the Welding Program.

Must be knowledgeable of and comply with the Board of Education's Policies. Establish and maintain an active CTSO as related to their program of study.

Ensure the program complies with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations. It may be a requirement to follow credentialing guidelines from professional organizations.

Any and other essential functions assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must meet certification requirements as set by the ALSDE Career Tech Division; Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe; Such above qualifications as the Board may require.

Experience: Documented Work Experience; Seven years of full-time work experience within past ten years in the area to be taught; NO Degree (high school diploma or equivalency OR Five years of full-time work experience within past seven years in area to be taught); Postsecondary certificate/diploma OR Three years of fulltime work experience within past seven years in area to be taught; Associate's degree must be completed from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution OR One year of full-time work experience within past three years in area to be taught; Bachelor's degree or higher in the technical education program area for which certificate is sought and must be completed from a regionally accredited senior institution.

Physical Requirements: Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity are required to perform job responsibilities.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with evaluation procedures and Board policy.
