Reports to: Head of Early Childhood & Lower School
Status: Salaried/Exempt
Start Date: July 30, 2025
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-3:30 PM with additional time as needed for meetings and professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead faculty collaboration to integrate library resources and instruction into classroom curricula, enhancing learning outcomes
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned library programs for preschool and lower school, emphasizing inquiry-based learning
- Provide targeted research support for key school events (e.g., Bio Bash, States Fair)
- Empower students with information literacy and book-selection skills
- Direct the development and maintenance of a dynamic, curriculum-aligned library collection
- Manage digital resources and library systems to ensure accessibility and effectiveness
- Manage the LS library budget, resources, and collection development, including acquisition and weeding
- Oversee strategic collection development, including acquisitions, donations, and inventory management
- Cultivate a collaborative library environment that fosters student exploration, research, and creation
- Provide readers advisory services
- Organize author visits, writing workshops, and book fairs
- Supervise volunteer efforts
- Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders
- Maintain current knowledge of library and information science trends
- Participate in professional organizations and attend relevant conferences as professional memberships including the HAISLN librarian group and reading list committee
- Collaborate with other librarians and school staff
- Attend all required meetings and after-school functions
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent leadership experience
- Proven expertise in youth library services, curriculum integration, and resource management
- Experience with the digital library environment, including facilitating online catalogs, audiobooks, LibGuides, and Google Suite for education productivity tools
- Classroom teaching experience
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to align library services with institutional goals and drive continuous improvement
