Position Description

This is a critical position assisting the Criminal Investigations Division with reports, record keeping, financial transactions, and administrative support. The Administrative Assistant will be part of a law enforcement organization that promotes teamwork, fosters a positive working environment, and maintains a reputation and tradition of excellence.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-siteposition.

Pay & Benefits

2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 28 LELS 567 : $48,006 to $64,812 ($23.08 to $31.16 per hour).

24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays.

Work Location

This position will work at The Anoka County Sheriff's Office, located at 13301 Hanson Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304.

Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Administrative Assistant.

Provide clerical and administrative support for the department. Deliver remarkable customer service while answering phones, assisting walk-in guests, and reserving facilities.

Perform office administration and operations activities such as maintain physical and electronic files, tracking personnel, handling billing, account maintenance and verifying purchases.

Prepare and log regularly recurring data for department reports and documents.

Receive, store, maintain and order office supplies inventory. Track orders and investigate problems.

Create and edit written communication including letters, reports, and presentations as directed. Enter data into systems as needed.

Act as a liaison and point of contact for employees, the department, and / or the public.

Translate concerns and requests for information into clear and accurate responses and elevate concerns as needed.

Compile and coordinate materials for meetings for multiple leadership levels of the organization.

Qualifications and Requirements :

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Two years of full-time (2,080 annual hours) administrative support experience in accounting, work processing and Microsoft Excel.

In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Associate degree or higher in accounting, human resources, public administration, or closely related field.

Three or more years full-time (2,080 annual hours) administrative support experience.

Previous experience in a law enforcement setting.

Previous experience taking minutes and transcribing.

No tattoos, scars or brands that qualify as "Unauthorized Tattoos" under the Sheriff's Office Policy 1044.3 are allowed under any circumstances by any member of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are prohibited. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. (Complete policy available upon request).

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

Work will be performed in a professional law enforcement office.
