About The Position

This full-time, non-exempt, position is located at the Anoka County Parks Maintenance Facility in Andover.
Pay and Benefits
- Salary: $42,681 ($20.52 per hour).
- 2022 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade B010 1710: $42,161 to $63,856 ($20.27 to $30.70 per hour).

Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all-inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of the primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Parkkeeper.
- Building maintenance, repairs, and renovation: Remodeling projects, structural building repairs, mechanical plant maintenance, custodial duties, etc.
- Facilities maintenance, repairs, construction, and renovation: Trail management (e.g. sweeping, patching, erosion control, construction, etc.); roadway and parking lot management (e.g. sweeping, patching, grading, etc.), installation of playground equipment, campgrounds, boat launches, picnic pavilions, nature center, amenities construction and installation, sign program, etc.
- Turf Management: Mowing, sod installation, fertilizing, top-dressing, aeration, pest control, seeding, irrigation maintenance, turf equipment operation and maintenance, etc.
- Landscaping: Retaining wall construction, decks and boardwalks construction and maintenance, grading, etc.
- Natural resource management: Prairie restoration, disease and hazardous tree removal, forest management, tree pruning, etc.
- Winter maintenance tasks: Snow and ice removal, cross country and skijoring trail grooming, tree removals, amenities construction and repair, woodworking, etc.
- Equipment operation and maintenance: Front end loaders, tractors, skid steer and attachments, backhoe, cross country ski trail groomer, prentice log loaders, aerial bucket truck, wide area mowers, blacktop roller, single and tandem axle dump trucks, etc.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must successfully pass criminal history and driver's license background check.
- Must successfully pass a drug test and physical examination.
- Must possess or be able to obtain within 6 months and maintain a Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in parks and recreation or closely related field.
- Experience in construction trades such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and/or electricity.
- Experience in snow removal and winter vehicle operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities needed:
- Road maintenance and snow removal procedures.
- State laws, federal regulations, and department policy pertaining to the operation of heavy equipment on public roads.
- Landscaping techniques such as turf maintenance, finish grading, retaining wall construction, drainage, and erosion control.
- Oral and written communication.
- Use of technology/computers/mobile devices.
- Train others and operate a variety of light and heavy equipment.
- Train others and use tools safely that are used in the construction trade.
- Read and understand blueprints and construction documents.
- Assess and troubleshoot building components and mechanical systems.
