Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Data Protection Administrator to manage and maintain backup and recovery systems in a large, diverse enterprise environment. This role involves working with Unix, Windows, and ESX servers, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with industry-leading backup and recovery solutions and is comfortable troubleshooting complex issues in a high-demand environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Backup & Recovery Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain Tivoli Spectrum Protect (TSM), Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Veritas NetBackup Appliance, EMC Data Domain, NDMP, and Tape Libraries.
Administer and monitor backup/restore processes for NetApp NAS, VMware, and physical servers.
Manage ServiceNow tickets related to backup, restores, and scheduling requests.
Handle escalation for Unix and Windows backup troubleshooting.
System Maintenance & Optimization:
Perform periodic patching and upgrades for backup software.
Generate on-demand and scheduled backup reports.
Maintain disk and tape-based storage solutions, including Data Domain and LTO tape drives.
Collaborate with Linux/Windows administrators to resolve backup/restore failures.
Ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
Vendor & Incident Management:
Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software support and troubleshooting.
Manage SLP (Storage Lifecycle Policies) and ensure data retention policies align with organizational needs.
Support cyber recovery and air-gap backup solutions as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
Hands-on experience with Tivoli Spectrum Protect (TSM), Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, and EMC Data Domain.
Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems.
Familiarity with VMware, Oracle, MSSQL, and Sybase.
Expertise in managing disk and tape-based backup storage solutions.
Strong troubleshooting skills for backup and recovery failures.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, enterprise-level environment.
Experience handling on-call support for critical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting, Python, and API programming.
Knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies.
Understanding of cyber recovery and air-gap backup solutions.
IT certifications related to backup and storage solutions are a plus.
