Job Overview : The Material Handler and Inventory Clerk is responsible for overseeing the receipt of incoming materials, conducting basic inspections, and organizing stock on bins and shelves. This role involves truck unloading, properly storing materials in designated areas, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating the purchase of items for replenishment. Additionally, you will set up and manage material cribs and facilitate distribution of parts to the production floor.
Key Responsibilities :
Material Handling : - Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming raw materials and components.
Pick, stage, and deliver materials to production areas as required.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all materials are properly labeled and stored in designated locations.
- Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous or sensitive materials.
Inventory Management : - Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP / MRP systems.
Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile stock discrepancies.
Quality Control : - Inspect incoming materials for damage, defects, or discrepancies before storage.
Ensure materials meet company quality standards and specifications.
Collaboration - Work closely with production teams to ensure materials are available as needed.
Communicate inventory issues, shortages, or delays to supervisors and relevant departments.
Work Environment :
This position is within a metal fabrication facility, where tasks are performed amid forklift and material traffic. The work environment may include exposure to outdoor conditions and production noise, with routine exposure to varying temperatures. Candidates should be comfortable standing, kneeling, and walking on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
