Anser Public Charter will be hiring paraprofessionals that have:

  • an abundance of flexibility and patience
  • a desire to help children develop skills and find need appropriate adaptations to successfully access curriculum in an inclusive setting
  • an ability to learn from and share with others as a member of an energetic team, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the heart of a teacher

We are recruiting for A successful candidate will work with students in grades K-8.

Desired skills: Include but are not limited to the ability to, under the direction of a teacher, support and manage challenging behaviors, support students in the general education classroom, modify class work to increase accessibility of content and plan for and implement small group instruction.

Final schedules will be drawn up when candidates are offered a position.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior
  • Reinforce lessons by reviewing material one-on-one and in small groups with students
  • Supervise students during lunch or recess, as well as in between classes or on field trips
  • Assist students who need additional help learning a specific content
  • Attend to students physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
  • Tracking students progress and preparing reports
  • Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class
  • Supports teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroom
  • Provides small group and/or individualized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with the students’ IEP and the supervising teacher’s lesson plans
  • Collects instructional and behavioral data for all objectives being taught for each student
  • Implements Behavior Intervention Plans for students with disabilities
  • Communicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues and conversations with parents
  • Responds to emails and phone calls from school leaders and teachers in a timely manner
  • Assists during standardized testing to support state and local testing processes and policies
  • Assists with distribution of food, supplies, materials and equipment, including technology
  • When in a school-based learning environment, monitors students' movement throughout the building to other classrooms, learning areas and cafeteria
  • Assists administrators and other staff members in the orderly, expedient and safe transition of students from one location to another
  • Assists students with assistive technology devices, including communication devices, switches and orthopedic devices needed for sitting, walking, or standing
  • Engages in professional learning opportunities in-person
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours
  • Under the supervision and guidance of the Special Education Department and/or Behavior Intervention Specialist
  • Complete monthly para training
  • Is evaluated by the Education Director
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative

Requirements: A minimum of two (2) years of postsecondary education is required. Experience working in special education is preferred but not required. About Our School: Anser Charter School, a public school chartered by the Idaho Charter School Commission demonstrates 23 years of successful operation. Anser is named after the Latin word for goose and seeks to embody the supportive and collaborative characteristics of its namesake. The school serves approximately 480 students K-8. We are located in Garden City and within the boundaries of the Boise School District. Anser is an Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) school rooted in effective teaching and learning practices as a means to ensure that all students are provided a rigorous curriculum embedded with components of strong character and service-learning.
