Position Summary
ANSER is seeking an Assistant Editor and Correspondence Manager to support the Senior Technical Editor with drafting and editing technical papers; writing, editing, and formatting staff action packages, publications and supporting documentation prepared by senior leadership and policy analysts. In this role you will also manage staff correspondence for the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters (OASD(NCB/NM)).
This position is to work onsite at the Suffolk Building in Falls Church, VA.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Support the Office of the DASD(NM) with documentation preparation, technical writing, and reviewing staff action packages and other products for clarity, consistency, formatting, and style.
- Edit for adherence to executive-level unique writing styles in accordance with established Office of the Secretary Defense (OSD) formatting/standards (e.g., Department of Defense Manual 5110.04) and the proper use of military terminology.
- Convert documents to various electronic media formats for distribution purposes.
- Manage and track correspondence within the office, across OSD and the interagency.
- Assist with managing and refining the OASD(NCB/NM) hard copy and electronic filing system to ensure records are properly maintained, organized, and in a user-friendly storage convention.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 4 years’ relevant experience. Will consider 7 years total experience with an associate’s degree and 9 years total experience with a high school diploma/GED.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience drafting technical documents for senior policy decision makers on highly classified and complex scientific, engineering, and technical topics/subjects
- Excellent writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of editorial principles and techniques
- Must be able to work at the customer site in support of senior management or executives with little supervision for sustained periods.
- Advanced degree in English
- Past experience Technical Writing/Editing or managing correspondence for a federal client
- Demonstrated experience working in an Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD)/Joint Staff/Interagency environment.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in DoD/OSD Correspondence processes and familiarity with the Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS).
- Experience with Records and Information Management (RIM) marking and handling federal records in accordance with the Federal Records Act, DoD Records and Information Management Directives, NARA regulations and guidelines, and OSD Policy.
- Excellent attention to detail and an ability to precisely adhere to specific writing/correspondence standards
- Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to multitask and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced work environment.
