Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center located at 1500 Est Woodrow Wilson Dr, Jackson, Mississippi, 39216. Responsibilities
- Perform design, optimization, and technical evaluation of radiation treatment plans
- Ensure precise and accurate radiation dose delivery
- Oversee radiation protection for patients and staff
- Provide consultation to Radiation Oncologists and technical staff during treatment planning and delivery
- Perform calculations and independent reviews of Monitor Units (MUs) or treatment times
- Conduct weekly systematic reviews of charts for all patients under radiation treatment
- Perform final chart reviews at the end of treatment courses to confirm prescribed dose delivery and document total doses to critical structures
- Manage and maintain the treatment planning computer system, including data input, testing, and documentation
- Perform periodic comparisons of planning system output to direct measurements of radiation beams
- Assist in the specification and selection of radiation-producing machines, accessories, and computerized treatment planning systems
- Evaluate equipment for continued utility, reliability, and replacement needs
- Develop and maintain a quality management program (QMP) for dosimetry systems and related applications
- Provide network and computer support for treatment planning, delivery, and management systems
- Participate in the implementation of new procedures and technologies
- Maintain detailed documentation of all calibrations, testing, and quality assurance activities
- Assist in training and professional development of radiation oncology residents and staff
