OFFICIAL TITLE: Parent Liaison (District Level)
SUPERVISOR: Principal
SALARY RANGE: Based on availability of **Grant Funding**
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work Year – 12 months
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Parent Liaison is responsible for the monitoring and support of student attendance, and parent supports within the school and for empowering parents to build capacity and be involved in the education of their children. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft word, Excel Spreadsheets, and PowerPoint. Must demonstrate a high proficiency in data collection and analysis. Experience managing confidential information and dispute resolution highly desired.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, be self-motivated, work comfortably with school staff, parents, and the community.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma and should have experience working within the community to build relationships with and obtain resources for the families being served.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light work, exerting up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally.
EVALUATION:
Conducted annually based on the policy of the Anson County Board of Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with principals and teachers to ensure the delivery of an effective attendance program, which supports student success.
- Help parents understand what their children need to know to be successful learners and offer specific ways for parents to support their children.
- Help to build partnerships between parents, schools and community organizations and to reach the hard-to-reach parents.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, establish, and maintain cooperative working relationships with parents, teachers, specialists and others.
- Attend and conduct training meetings with parents to facilitate communication between parents, specialists and instructional staff.
- Assist parents/families in understanding and accessing community resources and public services available to them and serve as liaison between parent, community and school officials.
- Develop a booklet of available community resources to support students and their families.
- Be available to parents and participate in family activities.
- Submit schedules, reports and documents in a timely manner.
- Maintain related records, prepare reports and follow confidential guidelines.
- Perform related duties as assigned and keep with the growth and general responsibilities of the position.
- Carry out other duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law, board policy, administrative regulations, or department handbook as are reasonable to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.
