Summary
The Embark Internship Program contributes to the spiritual, personal and professional development of the student. As a Zoo Animal Programs Embark Intern the student will work with the programs team to learn animal husbandry and training and participate in animal programming and planning.
This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion.
Responsibilities
- Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis
- Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done
- Approach all tasks with a second-mile mindset
- Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments
- Participate in Learning & Development apologetics training
- Serve in the attraction operation departments to display our SERVE core value
- Animal Husbandry duties as trained and assigned
- Participate in guest interaction opportunities including zoo stations, behind-the-scenes experiences, and others as assigned.
- Assist with daily animal programming, learning the back-of-house and front-of-house processes for shows.
- Participate in shows and chats around the zoo as trained and assigned.
- Assist keepers with animal training and learn the principles of operant conditioning and the development of shaping plans.
- Complete behavioral observations as assigned
- Learn AnimalCare Software, how to complete assignments and make daily notes
- Participate in zoo drills and other zoo learning opportunities
- Complete internship project as directed by leadership
- And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
