Assistant Technical Director - Full-Time with Benefits
Antech Systems is a developer of intellectual property, software, and hardware for the Non-destructive Testing market. It is developing new guided wave technologies based on image analysis to autonomously identify wave modes in guided wave signals. This data is fed into analysis software to quantify flaw severity based on the mode energies. This is an exciting and challenging environment that is providing a new cutting edge for ultrasonic inspection technologies. It is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated research engineer skilled in guided wave ultrasound to participate in driving the technology development which will support the new markets already identified by Antech Systems.
The Assistant Technical Director (ATD) is a Ph.D. level position, with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in guided wave technology. The job will consist of supporting research and technical development at Antech Systems Incorporated (ASI) for ultrasonic mode imaging (UMI) commercialization efforts. The candidate will review current development projects with the Technical Director to determine if analyses can be improved, as well as develop or direct new approaches, and work with UMI engineers to implement the developments into the ASI systems. The ATD must be able to develop software programs to test new analysis ideas, and then transfer the software details to the software development team. Performance and oversight of laboratory testing for both research and commercial development will be required. The ATD will work with the Technical Director to develop research directions and ensure that ASI's development projects are successful. The ATD will provide technical marketing material to the Technical Director and help develop marketing and sales material for ASI presentations. Presentations at customer sites or conferences may be required. The ATD must be able to provide technical direction to the UMI staff, as well as be a self-starter to drive projects to completion. The ATD will report to the Technical Director.
Travel is required to customer facilities to oversee testing and development initiatives, as well as for conferences and meetings. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen living in the Norfolk, VA area, with the ability to acquire a Security Clearance and a U.S. Passport.
No direct oversight or management of UMI personnel.
Candidate Requirements :
Strong mathematical and engineering background, specifically oriented at the physics of guided wave propagation and digital signal and image analysis.
Experience in conventional ultrasound and guided wave ultrasound.
Digital signal processing experience – e.g., FFT, cross-correlation, digital filtering.
Imaging processing and AI experience is a plus.
Ability to use laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, amplifiers, and sensors.
Software programming ability, e.g., MATLAB, Python, C#.
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as climb flights of stairs, work in confined spaces, lift and carry objects up to 35 pounds.
