Job Title: Material Handler Department: Marina Village Store
Supervisor: Marita Crank Salary Range: $14.50-15.00
JOB SUMMARY:
Material Handler will provide service to the marina village restaurant and store. The material handler will be responsible for handling deliveries, trash, ice and other miscellaneous tasks each shift. The material handler must be able to perform a variety of tasks as needed to maintain the service required by the restaurant and retail store.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Outstanding hospitality skills
- Must be willing to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts
- Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet guests needs
- Ability to work in a busy environment
- Possess a current and valid Driver’s License or ID card
- Must be 19 or older
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Adheres to all Antelope Point Marina policies and procedures.
- Able to organize self to better serve guests
- Co-ordinate deliveries to the marina store, fuel dock and restaurant from the warehouse.
- Stocks ice at marina store
- Re-stock cooler (marina store)
- Put away food order for the restaurant
- Empty marina village waste receptacles as needed
- Patrol courtesy slips: help boaters tie up boats, give directions, help settle disputes, anticipate customer needs
- Be familiar with services and department locations at APM
- Communicates professionally and diplomatically with co-workers, customers, management staff and public
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work includes carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, speaking, hearing and walking.
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Will be subject to extreme heat and/or cold.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Main working environment is not temperature controlled
- Will be required to work outside
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Antelope Point Marina policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess reliable transportation to work. Ability to be trained in policy and procedures. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Must be 18 or older.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 1 to 3 years in related field preferred.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of APM marina services and amenities.
- Skills which allow for the tactful resolution of guest problems or concerns.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in fire extinguisher operation.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in ISO/EMS awareness.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in employee orientation.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in hazard communication.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in hazardous materials response/respiratory protection.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in emergency response.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in recyclable materials.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in blood borne pathogen awareness.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The performance of stated functions and duties may occur in, but are not limited to: office settings, confined spaces such as boat hulls, public or common areas such as restaurant or retail establishment; inclement weather conditions may be a factor including rain, snow, wind, extreme temperatures. General industry levels of noise and stimuli should be expected in all settings.
*Controllable working conditions (i.e. temperature, lighting) may be altered to create a more conducive working environment for staffing needs, however such accommodations shall not create an undue hardship on the Company or other staff members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands of the position may include, but are not limited to sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Lifting, carrying and otherwise maneuvering heavy objects with or without assistance. Climbing, crouching, reaching, extending and other bodily movements in work areas such as boats, office settings, docks.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
It is important that the incumbent be able to communicate effectively in English including speaking, understanding, reading, and writing for the purpose of general interactions with staff, guests and customers. Additional linguistic proficiency is welcomed and encouraged, but not required for the performance of the position.
