POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Valet Attendant Department:Valet
Salary Range: $15.00 Reports to: Valet Supervisor
Employment Status: Seasonal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Valet Attendant will be responsible for the launching and retrieval of vessels while providing outstanding guest relations and maintaining safe work practices at all times. In addition, the Valet Attendant will be required to perform extensive washing, waxing, and detailing of marine vessels and related equipment as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Provide excellent guest relations through courteous communication and a professional demeanor;
- Perform launch and retrieval procedures of various vessels;
- Operate motor vehicle with both standard and automatic transmissions;
- Operate combination vehicles (vehicle and trailer) and manuever within conifed spaces at a proficient level as not to cause damage to guest and/or company property.
- Safely connect trailers to vehicles using a variety of hitch combinations.
- Wash, wax and detail various marine coatings and finishes as assigned.
- Inspect vessel for Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) and perform subsequent removal procedures as estiablished.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all safety procedures
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisory staff
- Possess the ability to react productively to other duties as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years old. Must maintain a state driver license in good standing throughout tenure of employment. Willing and able to work in an “on-call” status. Ability to maintain organized records. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. No minimum required.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in operation of motor vehicles, including in tow of marine vessels and/or other machinery which necessitates the use of a trailer is highly preferable. The incumbent should also have experience backing up vehicle/trailer combinations in consideration of the essential functions and duties of the position; guest relations and customer service experience including interaction with a diverse customer base is also preferable

- Skills which allow for the tactful resolution of guest problems or concerns.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in fire extinguisher operation.

- Knowledge or ability to be trained in employee orientation.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in hazard communication.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in hazardous materials response/respiratory protection.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in emergency response.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in recyclable materials.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in blood borne pathogen awareness.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The performance of stated functions and duties may occur in, but are not limited to: office settings, confined spaces such as boat hulls, public or common areas such as restaurant or retail establishment; inclement weather conditions may be a factor including rain, snow, wind, extreme temperatures. General industry levels of noise and stimuli should be expected in all settings.
*Controllable working conditions (i.e. temperature, lighting) may be altered to create a more conducive working environment for staffing needs, however such accommodations shall not create an undue hardship on the Company or other staff members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands of the position may include, but are not limited to sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Lifting, carrying and otherwise maneuvering heavy objects with or without assistance. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
It is important that the incumbent be able to communicate effectively in English including speaking, understanding, reading, and writing for the purpose of general interactions with staff, guests and customers. Additional linguistic proficiency is welcomed and encouraged, but not required for the performance of the position.
