RANGE : Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester basis and are paid per lecture hour equivalent (LHE). Minimum (less than a masters) and Maximum (Doctorate).
DESCRIPTION
Adjunct Instructors are temporary, part-time faculty. Antelope Valley College invites applications for our applicant pool for Coaching discipline.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Representative Duties :
- The assignment entails coaching the Varsity Volleyball team and all aspects related to the Volleyball program.
Assignment of off-season conditioning and team courses based on applicant meeting minimum qualifications.
Coach and administer all aspects of the Intercollegiate Volleyball program.
Select, train, and supervise assistant coaching and game operations staff.
Motivate and guide student-athletes to achieve academic success and assist in their matriculation to the four-year level and / or in meeting their vocational training goals.
Evaluate, plan, and coordinate all programs relevant to the success of student-athletes in the Intercollegiate Volleyball program.
Oversee preparation of the schedule.
Monitor and stay within the assigned budget.
Engage in approved fundraising activities to supplement the program budget.
Assist in the identification, procurement, and inventory of supplies and equipment for the Intercollegiate Volleyball program.
Ensure all facilities and modes of transportation are used safely and maintained properly.
Promote the Intercollegiate Volleyball program within the community and our contiguous recruiting areas through recruiting, public appearances, promotional efforts, community service, camps, clinics, etc.
Observe all Antelope Valley College District (AVCD) Board Policies and Procedures.
Comply with all California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), Western State Conference, and college rules, regulations, and policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRABLES :
Demonstrated ability to recruit
Demonstrated ability in managing the various aspects of a volleyball program, including, but, not limited to, academic advisement, budget, coaching, compliance, evaluation, facilities, fundraising, marketing, operations, scheduling, and student support
Ability to plan and direct the conditioning, training, practice, match, and behavioral conduct of all student-athletes in the program
Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and promote an Intercollegiate Volleyball program
Evidence of continued professional development or involvement in the sport of volleyball
Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
Ability to communicate effectively with all people, including persons of diverse cultures and language groups and people who have disabilities
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
Ability, interest, and willingness to develop and maintain working relationships with club, high school, and four-year coaches so as to recruit, retain, and matriculate student-athletes
Willingness to work with students having a wide range of skills, motivation, athletic, academic, or vocational goals
Ability to evaluate collegiate-level athletic prospects
Familiarity with current guidelines governing Intercollegiate Volleyball (CCCAA, NCAA, etc.)
