What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performing Arts AVID Tutor 24/25 position at Antelope Valley High School?
Work collaboratively with the teacher(s) they support at the school site(s) to instruct and support students and groups of students in performing arts courses. Specifically in 1 or more: Guitar, Woodwind/Brass, Percussion, & Choir.
ABILITY to:
Rehearse/Support and model for students. Teach and reinforce fundamental techniques including concepts of production, arts literacy, articulation, artistry, and technical skills. Assist the teacher(s) in developing and implementing meaningful, well-organized lessons and support student learning. If the teacher(s) is absent, have the skills needed to rehearse/support student learning.
ESSENTIAL & REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists in developing and implementing arts activities for participating students
- Work with individual students and groups of students as needed
- Participates in performances, rehearsals, and activities as needed
- Assists in selection and maintenance of supplies, materials, and equipment
- Performs other related duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employees in this classification may work in an indoor classroom, auditorium, gymnasium, stadiums, and other areas on and off campus.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Employees in this classification sit and stand for extended periods of time; may occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds; must bend at the waist, as well as kneel, stoop, or crouch repeatedly to assist students. Employees may reach overhead, as well as, above the shoulders and horizontally; must have dexterity of hands and fingers to demonstrate activities or run instructional equipment; must be able to hear normal voice conversation and speak clearly to exchange information, make presentations, hear in a noisy environment and locate the source of a sound; must be able to see to read a variety of materials and monitor student activities as required.
Minimum age requirement is 18.
Pass drug test, current TB test, and DOJ background check.
Must have a high school diploma.
Must be able to work on-site through the normal school day (8:30 - 3:40). A maximum of 19 hours a week. Days may vary.
