Job Objective:
The Engineering Manager, under the direction of the Director of Engineering, is responsible for the implementation of the Engineering and Grounds Programs. The programs include the systematic and effective control over the selection, safety, maintenance, and performance of the hospital’s mechanical and grounds equipment and property. Safety inspections, preventive maintenance, calibration, corrective maintenance, evaluation of equipment, reports on quality control, financial control, and employee development are the primary duties. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Engineering and Grounds operations
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Staff Management
1. Manage and train reporting personnel.
2. Manage and monitor out of house supplemental contracts and services.
3. Responsible in assisting with for staff hiring, firing, and work schedules.
4. Responsible in assisting with performance evaluations and/or discipline of reporting staff.
B. Department Management
1. Exert systematic quality control over all functions within area of responsibility.
2. Responsible in assisting with managing departmental budget.
3. Accepts responsibility for handling all after hours’ emergency service requests.
4. Track, trend, and report clinical equipment and building maintenance program performance.
5. Oversees Engineering and Grounds work request and staff assignments.
6. Assure compliance and maintain documentation, related to Building Maintenance under all applicable JCAHO, DHS, OSHPD/Hcai, OSHA, LSC, AQMD, Title 22 & 24 codes.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management desired.
- 5 years of proven Engineering Healthcare experience – Required (acute care setting – Preferred).
- 5 years proven Building Maintenance experience – Required (acute care setting – Preferred).
- 2 years’ Supervisory experience – Required (acute care setting – Preferred).
