Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Job Scope
· Ability to fusion splice SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to include or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC)
· Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
· Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues
· Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings and blueprints and testing documents.
· Performs daily tests, checks and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
· Performs optical continuity and conformance testing
· Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations.
Complexity
· Work on matters of limited complexity. Applies the organizations policies, procedures, and practices in the normal course of work and in the analysis and resolution of issues.
· Be able to complete assigned tasks on time and under budget
· Be able to communicate with PMs and Customers
Impact
· Work directly impacts team objectives and contributes to overall functional and organizational objectives. Will conduct work important to our customers, and internal team members.
Required Education/Experience
· High School Diploma or GED
Required Skills
· Valid Driver’s License
· Entry level will train: Experience in prepping and splicing ribbon fiber preferred but NOT required.
· Entry level will train: Experience of prepping and splicing loose tube fiber, all sizes preferred but NOT required.
· Entry level will train: Experience of installing, maintaining/repairing and testing fiber optic networks, including bi-directional tests preferred but NOT required.
· Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.
· Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.)
· Ability to work in confined spaces
· Previous underground utility experience preferred but NOT required.
· Must be able to follow instructions.
· Able to work flexible hours and travel as needed

- Utility locating: 1 year (Preferred)
- Fiber splicing: 1 year (Preferred)

- Elko, NV: Relocate before starting work (Required)
