What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tower Technician (Magic Valley) position at Anthem Broadband?
Position Summary:
Tower crew members are the Tower construction, maintenance, and outage team. This Position Is Not Like the Cell Tower Industry. Yes, we do work at height some days but most of the time we are lower than small town water tower. Most of the Tower Sites in our network are 110’ and Lower, often being a 30’pole for our tower. Some days climbing is not necessary, due to equipment on Grain elevators with stairs/elevator or having equipment on a building's roof only needing Ladder and Fall Protection. Schedule is 4-10s Monday – Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm with limited flexibility on start/end times depending on season. On Call schedule is 1-week primary, 1-week secondary, 2 weeks off. New employees will need to be Trained for 2 months minimum before joining the Primary On-Call rotation. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Tower crews focus on growing the Anthem Broadband tower network, tower construction projects and addressing network issues that arise in the Treasure Valley.
SCOPE:
- Tower project construction.
- Install Wireless Access Point equipment on towers.
- Upgrading capacity and redundancy for the Anthem network and beyond.
- Address and troubleshoot issues with equipment.
- Erect new tower sites.
COMPLEXITY:
- Construction and tower climbing.
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Working with team/project lead.
- Safely using company equipment/truck & trailer (snowmobiles and Side by sides for certain sites/weather).
IMPACT:
- Support customers and the network.
- Work with a team/individually.
Required Education/Experience:
- High School diploma.
- Driver's license.
- Construction.
Required Skills:
- Clean driving record.
- Troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to climb 300 ft.
- Attention to safety.
- Motivation to learn wireless radio and DC power systems.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- OSHA and JSA knowledge
Special Position Requirements:
- Travel to tower sites around Magic Valley
- Motivated to Learn climbing, lifting, rigging, trailer hitching/towing.
- Have at least basic experience working on a construction or tower site.
- Experience with basic and powered hand tools is preferred.
- Must be motivated with ability to stay focused without direct supervision.
- Must have own transportation to work vehicle.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must NOT have a fear of heights.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Experience with wireless infrastructure and equipment is desired, but not mandatory.
