DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Anthem Sport and Fitness Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Programs to provide professional recreation program planning, supervision, budgeting, communications, marketing and customer services; oversee the coordination of field rentals, field prep, monitoring; and special projects, management of Sports Monitors, fitness equipment, sports and fitness supervisors, and volunteer Coaches. In addition to the Sports programs needs the Manager will also be responsible for all aspects of the Community Center Fitness Center fitness IC’s and programming. The Program manager will also work closely with the Children’s Programs and the Park Patrol and Security. This highly visible position interacts with a broad and diverse group of residents, the general public, and organizations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Plans and supervises community recreation sports programs and sports leagues for youth and adults
- Coordinates all field prep for internal and external field and court users
- Prepares, administers and monitors program budgets including revenues and expenditures, purchasing and payroll in accordance with established procedures
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates work performance of variable hour personnel and contractors, handles sensitive, confidential issues, participates in selection process and makes recommendations for hiring and terminations
- Prepares schedules and assignments for variable hour sports department staff
- Oversees the coordination, scheduling and supervision of multiple sports fields and rental facilities following established procedures
- Develops short and long range planning for a community recreation programs
- Trains employees in safety procedures and ensures all safety rules, regulations and procedures are followed
- Accurately maintains records and prepares written reports relating to recreation activities and facilities
- Develops, promotes, manages, and evaluates training program for volunteers in a variety of sports or recreation programs
- Working with the Communications department to provides program publicity, promotion and advertising
- Ensures programs are accurately entered in to Civic Rec, both by entering in directly and / or supervising staff entering in the information
- Oversees fitness programming at the Community Center
- Maintains the proper functions of all fitness equipment
- Oversees all reserve projects for fitness, fitness floor and gym areas and other CC reserve projects as assigned
- Manages the field and fitness supervisor and all 3rd party reservations
- Manages the Racquet and court Sports Supervisor and supervision of all Pickleball and Tennis programs and IC’s
- Provides information and assistance to staff, ACC personnel, and the general public regarding programs and classes, resolves grievances and complaints as needed, must be able to balance competing interests while remaining professional, fair and consistent to all parties
- Responsible for providing timely information to be included in each Activity Guide
- Functions as Manager on Duty at the Community Center, other duties as assigned by the Community Center Director
- Assists with special events outside of the normal work schedule
- Knowledge and understanding of field management, facility maintenance, and pool maintenance and operation
- Performs work of those supervised as necessary
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and possess insights and skills to achieve program objectives through the efforts of staff and contributed efforts of resident volunteers.
