Position Overview:
We seek a detail-oriented and experienced Seasonal Tax Preparer to join our team during the tax season. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations and a passion for helping clients navigate the complexities of tax preparation. This is a temporary, seasonal role with the potential for recurring seasonal employment or full-time employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file individual (1040) and small business tax returns (Schedules C, E, etc.).
- Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Advise clients on tax deductions, credits, and tax strategies to optimize returns.
- Respond to client inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive client information.
Qualifications:
- Experience in tax preparation (1–2 years preferred).
- Familiarity with tax preparation software such as Drake, Ultra Tax, Turbo Tax etc.
- Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA, EA, or PTIN certification is a plus but not required.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, are necessary during peak season.
- Competitive hourly rate or per-return pay (commensurate with experience).
