Live-in Companion for Young Adult with Autism

(Very important: Applicants must have their own car.

Looking for an outgoing, reliable, energetic individual to work with my adorable 37-year old autistic son in a comfortable, 3-bedroom, duplex in Harrison (Westchester County, NY).

The live-in caregiver will have his/her own spacious, independent, bedroom on the upper floor of the duplex, with its own private bathroom and large walk-in closet. Caregiver would be expected to stay at the house 5 nights a week (Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday) or full time if she/he so wishes..

Some familiarity with autism is very useful. Ability to follow specific instructions regarding the interaction with my son is extremely important, as is also ongoing communication with me (father). Responsibilities include driving him once or twice a week to community classes, parks, in addition to engaging in constructive interaction with him at home.

37 hours per week will be guaranteed, even if actual hours worked are less. (Overnight sleeping at th house is not considered billable time). Position involves a lot of free time, as my son goes to a day program each day and there are also an additional part-time caregivers involved with him several afternoons/evenings. I always take my son with me in NYC every Friday morning until Sunday afternoon plus Holidays/vacations.

The most important hours needed would be in the morning until 9:15 or so and in the evening after 9:15 pm until bedtime at 10:30pm. Also Sunday from 4:30 pm to bedtime.

$30 per hour (subject to taxes and regular withholdings). A background check and registering with a Financial Intermediary for payroll purposes are required (a straightforward process)
