Key Responsibilities
- Individual Support:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 6 students with IEPs, providing targeted social work interventions using the Easy IEP system.
- Offer support to additional students on 504 plans and those seen for mental health concerns.
- Group Trauma-Informed Practices:
- Develop and implement group lessons and support sessions to address trauma and promote social-emotional learning for all students.
- Collaborate with staff members to push into classrooms and deliver whole-group support lessons.
- Community Engagement:
- Participate in all district staff activities, including new staff orientations, to integrate social work practices across the school.
- Be a visible and supportive presence in the school community by greeting students and ensuring a welcoming environment throughout the day.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with fellow social workers in the district to share best practices and ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
- Master’s (MSW) or Doctoral degree in Social Work.
- Illinois PEL with an endorsement in Social Work.
- Previous experience with Elementary students is preferred but not required.
- Experience & Skills:
- Prior experience in a school setting working with children, especially within diverse communities.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed practices and group facilitation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently with a strong drive and initiative in planning and implementing group lessons.
- Spanish-speaking abilities are a significant asset, with a passion for working with diverse cultures.
