STATUS: Non-Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of Facilities management, the housekeeper will clean and maintain assigned areas of The Anti-Cruelty Society’s property and grounds. The housekeeper will also ensures that all work is performed in a timely fashion and meets the goals set forth by management to ensure a clean and safe environment for public, staff and animals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS· Uphold the PETS Work Culture Agreement through Praise, Engagement, Trust, and Support.
· Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and light maintenance tasks and services throughout facility.
· Pick up trash and empty trash containers.
· Perform light repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
· Assist with the cleaning and sanitizing of shared facilities and common spaces.
· Wash windows.
· Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
· Perform limited grounds maintenance such as cleaning snow from sidewalks.
· Examine property for safety hazards; reports problems to Facilities management.
· Ensure heating and cooling systems are operational.
· Ensure that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
· Monitor parking lot for parking violations.
· Maintain a well-cared for appearance of work areas.
· Assist in moving and delivery of equipment/supplies while ensuring safety of all employees.
· Enter work performed in database for monthly reporting.
· Respond to the needs of the facility and staff.
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers and general public.
· Modern janitorial methods, safety practices and materials and equipment, including the safe use of power-driven waxing and buffing machines, detergents, soaps, waxes and cleaning compounds.
· Must have a sense of caring for animals.
· Electrical, plumbing, HVAC troubleshooting preferred
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSOne year of previous experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in all weather conditions and work around companion animals
Ability to lift 120 lbs. and to shoulder carry 50 lbs.
Ability to frequently bend, stoop and reach
Ability to climb stairs, ladders with no restrictions as to height or location
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Available to work an extended schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings and holidays according to demands of the role. A valid Illinois driver’s license with a clean driving record. Respect for animals and belief in the mission of The Anti-Cruelty Society.
