The Anti-Drug & Alcohol Crusaders, Inc. (ADAC) is a non-profit, faith & community-based organization that has been in operation for over 35 years delivering academic support, violence prevention and substance misuse education, health and recreational activities, and support services to youth and families residing in Philadelphia.
Position Overview:
The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and implementation of ADAC’s parent/family education, prevention, and support services and community engagement services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the direct supervision of the Program Director.
- Collaborate and work closely with ADAC’s Safe Haven OST (SHOST) Program to plan and implement events, workshops, and activities for the OST parents.
- Responsible for developing, distributing, implementing, and sustaining the Family Engagement Plan to SHOST’s families.
- Work closely with school counselors/social workers/climate manager and community organizations to identify youth and families in need of support.
- Hire, supervise, provide, and coordinate training of parent practitioners.
- Provide guidance to the parent practitioners to ensure fidelity and adherence to evidence-based parenting curriculum and program goals.
- Provide one-to-one parent support and family-based prevention/intervention using an evidence-based parenting curriculum to about 15-20 families per year.
- Responsible for stepping in during the absence of parent practitioners to ensure continuation of services.
- Accurately assess the strengths, supports, and needs of parents, families, and communities served.
- Make referrals to quality trauma-informed support services and behavioral health care systems for families in need of intervention or treatment.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with schools, families, and community partners.
- Plan and facilitate youth, parent, and community workshops and speaking engagements on topics related to violence, substance misuse, delinquency, mental health, and other related topics.
- Support with and/or oversee the planning and facilitation of program events, activities, and/or trips for students, families, and the community.
- Represent organization to the larger community, serving as the primary contact for community events and activities.
- Oversee the planning of data collection, management, analysis, evaluation, reporting, and performance assessment, as well as collect data that is specific to the parenting & family services.
- Develop and perform consistent community outreach and marketing strategies.
- Design & create materials for program marketing and communications.
- Assist with writing grant proposals, reports, concept papers, and other materials needed to obtain continued/increased funding of the prevention program.
- Perform fundraising activities to obtain funding to support prevention initiatives.
- Assist the Lead Staff in the overall planning, implementation, and advancement of program objectives.
- Report all activities, operational procedures, emergencies, and conflicts to the Director.
- Perform other duties within reason, as deemed necessary by the Director, technical assistance (TA) Team, and grantors to ensure quality services.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in studies related to sociology, psychology, education, behavioral health, or human services with at least three years’ related experience; or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory/management experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to form relationships with strategic partners, e.g., government agencies, nonprofit agencies, schools, businesses, and faith-based communities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Enthusiasm and dedication to improving the lives of young people and their families.
- The candidate will need to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.
- Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI, and sexual offender clearances will be needed, prior to employment.

- Must have a valid driver’s license and your own reliable vehicle and/or access to transportation when necessary/required. Must be able to travel to work office daily and partnered schools on a weekly basis.

- Must be able to walk, stand, and carry items for events, workshops, facilitating presentations, and trips
