Antioch College, a mission-driven liberal arts institution, invites applications for a contract faculty position in Psychology for the 2025-2026 academic year, with the option to extend for a second year. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an academic environment where students own their education through community, classroom, and co-op. The successful candidate will be considered for either a Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship or a Clinician-in-Residence role, depending on their training, experience, and professional goals (see below).
We seek a candidate who is excited about teaching and mentoring undergraduate students within a collaborative, student-centered academic community. This is a unique opportunity to engage in innovative, experiential teaching that blends theory with practice and supports Antioch’s core values of social justice, sustainability, and experiential learning.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 6 undergraduate psychology courses (2 per term), with opportunities to contribute to capstone advising and interdisciplinary programs that integrate psychology with other fields.
- Advise and mentor students, helping them design and implement individualized academic pathways.
- Engage in campus and faculty life through participation in community governance and campus life. Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance the academic and co-curricular experiences of students, including serving as Pre-Social Services Faculty Advisor.
Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in psychology (or expected by the start of the position) from an APA-accredited or CACREP-accredited program required.
- Candidates should be prepared to teach foundational psychology courses (e.g., General Psychology, Foundations of Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology), with an emphasis on integrating theory with practice, fostering critical thinking, and supporting students’ understanding of diverse psychological perspectives.
- A strong passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduates in a liberal arts context.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow
The Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship is ideal for individuals who are eager to develop their teaching expertise in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. Fellows will have the chance to teach courses across the psychology curriculum, with a focus on engaging students in the distinct interdisciplinary pathways at Antioch College. This position includes opportunities for mentoring students and supporting their career development.
Clinician-in-Residence
The Clinician-in-Residence position is tailored for experienced professionals with a clinical background who are looking for a flexible academic role. Ideal candidates will have significant clinical experience and a desire to teach and mentor students in a liberal arts college setting. This is a term-limited position that provides valuable opportunities to connect students with experiential learning, co-op experiences, and pre-professional advising.
