What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist position at Antioch Unified School District?
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Assistant Director-Special Education, develop, implement, and provide individual and group therapy to enhance fine motor, sensory motor and other skills and development among identified students with disabilities; evaluate and develop occupational therapy treatment plans in response to student needs and disabilities; provide consultation and training to teachers, staff, parents, and others concerning the development of student motor skills and related programs. We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.
Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000.
The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

take precedence when certifying eligibles.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy or related field and one year experience working with students with various disabilities in a rehabilitative setting. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Occupational Therapist Certification issued by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board. Valid State Occupational Therapist license. Valid California driver’s license.
