What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUBSTITUTE Paraprofessional / Instructional Assistants position at Antioch Unified School District?
This recruitment is for substitute / on-call employment in the classification of Instructional Assistants and Paraeducators. These paraprofessional positions are for those not seeking permanent/regular work. It is for those that are interested in working on-call and as-needed to service student’s needs during employee absences or position vacancies. This recruitment is NOT for the use of an eligibility list to employ permanent employees. We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.

Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000.
The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT BILINGUAL (Salary Range 121) Hourly Rate: Step A $23.96
PARAEDUCATOR I (Salary Range 124) Hourly Rate: Step A $25.81
PARAEDUCATOR II (Salary Range 125) Hourly Rate: Step A $26.45
Hours/Months: Hours Vary Daily: 0 to 6 per day,
ON-CALL: 10 Months - Student Attendance Days Only Number of Substitutes Needed: 20

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Instructional Assistant: Assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of identified Title I students in a classroom, laboratory or other learning environment; tutor students in assigned subject areas; provide clerical program support.
Instructional Assistant Bilingual: Assist teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of limited or non-English speaking students in a classroom.
Paraeducator I & II: provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students assigned to a designated special education instructional program; perform a variety of support activities related to behavior management and classroom instruction of special education students; perform a variety of clerical support duties related to classroom and program activities (refer to job descriptions for full details).
Salary : $22 - $26
