Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose medical conditions.
- Develop treatment plans and perform surgeries as necessary.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Provide emergency care and critical care for animals in need.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians to ensure the well-being of animals during their stay at the clinic.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Valid state veterinary license to practice.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
- Experience in veterinary critical care is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques and handling various species including equine.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and staff.
- A compassionate approach towards animal care and welfare.
