Director of Project Development

Antora Energy
San Jose, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/22/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/22/2025

At Antora, we're on a mission to stop climate change. And we can't do that unless we tackle the 30% of global emissions that come from industry.

Antora is unlocking zero-emissions industrial energy, cheaper than fossil fuels. Antora's thermal batteries store energy from renewables as heat for days on end, delivering that stored energy as heat and power at the scale and temperatures that large industrial operations demand. We're on a path to eliminate gigatons of emissions while strengthening domestic manufacturing, curbing industrial air pollution, and enhancing America's clean energy leadership.

We are growing our company with people who put team and mission first, value connection through laughter and joy, and build with humility and openness. We are committed to continue building a diverse, passionate, and creative team dedicated to a future where every industrial facility, everywhere on earth, is powered by abundant, low-cost, zero-emissions energy.

Position Summary

At Antora, we are revolutionizing industrial energy to combat climate change. As a Director of Project Development, you will drive the development of high-quality, zero-emissions energy solutions that bring $100-250M projects to final investment decision (FID). You will play a critical role in advancing project opportunities to decarbonize thermal energy use in industry, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and crafting innovative solutions to help industrial facilities transition to clean energy. Your work will directly contribute to reducing gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions while enabling Antora's mission to power industry with low-cost, zero-emissions energy.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional deal teams to advance industrial energy decarbonization projects from Letter of Intent (LOI) to FID.
  • Develop and execute tailored customer solutions based on Antora's thermal energy storage (TES) technologies to maximize greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.
  • Craft favorable commercial deal structures with support from financial analysts for multi-stakeholder projects, including power supply, utilities, storage, and industrial offtake agreements.
  • Establish clear roles and accountability expectations for cross-functional deal teams to meet project milestones, guiding projects through Investment Committee stage gates
  • Build and maintain exceptional relationships with industrial customers, utilities, financiers, and other stakeholders throughout the project development lifecycle.
  • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction by delivering creative, first-principles-driven energy solutions and identifying opportunities for add-on or referral business.
  • Track and increase the percentage and velocity of projects reaching FID, ensuring consistent alignment with Antora's mission and objectives.
Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading industrial energy or decarbonization projects to FID.
  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and ensure accountability across all stakeholders.
  • Expertise in developing and negotiating complex deal structures, including power purchase agreements, energy storage solutions, and offtake contracts.
  • Exceptional ability to integrate insights from techno-economic analyses into deal-making strategies.
  • Track record of delivering outstanding stakeholder experiences and building lasting relationships with industrial customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risks while ensuring on-time project delivery.
  • Commitment to Antora's mission and values, including teamwork, humility, and a passion for industrial decarbonization.
Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Experience in industrial energy sectors such as biofuels, renewable energy, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with power market fundamentals including regulatory and market dynamics in Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs).
  • Creative problem-solving skills, including first-principles thinking and the ability to craft novel, tractable deal structures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience developing playbooks or frameworks to streamline future project development.
