Position Description :

JOB SUMMARY

This is a Work Group Lead (WGL) position for a mid or senior level Instrumentation and Control systems (I&C) engineer. The WGL role is a central position within our organization, which is structured as a matrix.

Our WGLs serve as the key technical and client-facing leaders for a specific client(s) and engineering discipline. Overseeing a small team of two to a dozen I&C engineers and designers, the WGLs perform their work in tandem : one engineer and one designer, and report directly to the Control Systems Resource Manager (RM). They are also the single point of contact for a suite of projects under a particular program (a set of geographically organized clients), and thus coordinate directly with the Program Manager (PM). A strong WGL must be competent and function smoothly in both technical and personal / relationship realms. Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) is a key asset in this position. Our WGLs may also serve as project leaders for single-discipline or small-scale projects; and thus the position is a logical stepping stone to becoming a project leader.
