We have an immediate opening for a Lead Data Engineer / Scientist with emphasis on ETL data processes, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Solutions Architecture, and Data Visualization development in our Fort Walton Beach, Florida location.
Job Details
Candidate will be responsible for leading, designing and directing scalable, high-performance data pipelines for a variety of systems utilized by the Air Force Research Lab and other DoD organizations. Anyar's teams are multi-disciplinary, and the candidate will manage a team of skilled professionals, provide technical directions, and ensure project success through direct collaboration with engineers, scientists, and software developers to translate high-level analysis objectives and requirements into actionable plans. The candidate will research, test, and evaluate the best-of-breed data collection mechanisms that we’ll leverage to curate modeling and simulation, machine learning, aerodynamics, guidance, navigation, and control data. The role also includes preparing and delivering technical briefings to government stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making at the highest levels. Your job will require you to:
· Architect scientific and technological data collection strategies that automates ingestion, delivery and transformations into data driven intelligence
· Implement robust ETL data pipelines leveraging big data tools, distributed systems, and machine learning workflows to support diverse applications
· Develop sophisticated data visualization dashboards to synthesize and correlate Science and Technology intelligence
· Conduct data state surveys that assess and demonstrate the utilization of data lakes and data warehouses.
· Administer and ensure the high availability of data lakes and data warehouse for Science and Technology teams
· Collaborate with the Munitions Directorate and internal Anyar teams to coordinate the design and integration of data lake and data warehouse solutions
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued security clearance, pursuant to 32 CFR 117.10. Accordingly, all applicants must be United States citizens, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearance.
Responsibilities
· Communicate with subject matter experts and study leads to translate high-level engineering objectives into actionable plans
· Work with software/simulation developers to appropriately design and develop strategic data pipelines to facilitate data workflow integration
· Design and implement post-processing and analysis of large, potentially unstructured datasets to aggregate, mine, and understand simulation results
· Compile and present reports which clearly communicate effort outcomes to audiences of varying statistical and technical knowledge
· Lead efforts related to defining and operationalizing data platforms, big data applications, developing deployment pipelines for infrastructure
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, data engineering, data science or similar
· 5 - 10 years of combined programming language/data science experience or implementing data solutions with at least 4 years of data engineering / management experience
· Some knowledge of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka)
· Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and query optimization
· Experience with containerization, API development and application integration
· Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and articulate ideas both verbally and written
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
· Strong knowledge of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache NiFi, Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, Hadoop/HDFS)
· Experience in deployment of machine learning models and data retrieval processes and infrastructure.
· Strong experience with mass storage solutions such as S3 storage (AWS, MinIO, Scality)
· Data stream processing with tools such as Kafka Data search and observability with tools such as Elasticsearch and Kibana
· Extensive knowledge and working experience in SQL and relational databases
