We have an immediate opening for a Physics Simulation Engineer with an emphasis on hydrocodes and finite element programs. This position can be based in our Fort Walton Beach, Florida location or our Reach Triangle Park, North Carolina location
Job Details
Candidate will be responsible for assisting with developing, validating, and maintaining various machine learning systems trained on a variety of simulation systems utilized by the Air Force Research Laboratory and other DoD organizations. Anyar's teams are multi-disciplinary and will work closely with Software Developers, Engineers, and Scientists to translate high-level analysis objectives and requirements into R&D efforts. Candidate will use a variety of methods, including data processing and visualization, and popular/novel machine learning algorithms to train, test, and understand complex physics models and make recommendations for future research and analyses. This role will have an emphasis on ML development using python's well-known packages such as pandas, sklearn, and pytorch/torch-geometric. Learning our analysis ecosystem will introduce you to other technologies such as Docker, git, and CI/CD.
Statement of Security Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued security clearance, pursuant to 32 CFR 117.10. Accordingly, all applicants must be United States citizens, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Assist with designing, developing, and researching ML systems, models, and schemes
- Work with simulation software to accurately model complex physics processes
- Generating and verifying simulation data for training
- Validating ML models through assessment of physics surrogation
- Compile and present reports which clearly communicate study outcomes to audiences of varying physics and technical knowledge.
Basic Qualifications
- MS in Physics, Engineering, or similar OR BS in Physics, Engineering, or similar with 3 to 5 years experience
- Familiarity with python and programming
- Experience running and understanding finite element programs and hydrocodes
- Ability to work with members of a team and independently
- Strong communication skills both verbally and written
- US Citizen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with advanced Lagrangian and Eulerian solvers
- Experience with shock wave physics, structural mechanics, and/or CFD
- Experience with pytorch and machine learning development
